Kiehl's Brooklyn Grand Opening

For the Grand Opening of their new store in Brooklyn Heights, Kiehl's wanted to create a special memento for the honorees and guests of the event. I developed a custom piece of Brooklyn-inspired hand lettering, which was screen printed on a limited run of exclusive tote bags—perfect for holding complimentary samples and other goodies.

Inspired by the vintage signage and whimsical graffiti often found along Brooklyn streets, the custom lettering brought a fresh look to the store while in turn reflecting the historical nature of Kiehls, founded in 1851 in the nearby East Village. The tagline itself is a play on a common phrase used within the brand, "For a Refuel, Land at Kiehl's". I created the lettering using pencil, translated it into vector, and applied texture to enhance the feel of the screen printing process.
