4077 Northaven Road

I began renovating houses during the pandemic. This property was my fourth, and by far my favorite. Due to shortages, it took about 8 months to complete, and was listed on a Thursday in mid-September. We had jam-packed interest from the first to last minute, with over 100 showings and a bustling open house. Listed for $829,000, it received a ton of wonderful offers and sold easily for $900,000. I am so grateful to have been able to provide a nice home to the wonderful family that purchased it.

Before the Renovation

This dated house, while oddly nostalgic, was in poor condition and not laid out well. Among many things, the walls flanking the stairs cut the house in half, blocking light and visibility. It had a dysfunctional kitchen, dated bathroom designs, no Master Suite, a half bath in the laundry room, and other layout oddities. A gap in the dormers rendered the upstairs space fairly unusable.

About the Transformation

This design was well admired by buyers, with its trendy modern-transitional style, lifestyle features, highly intuitive layout, and splash of character. Most of the changes are obvious, but perhaps the most significant was floating the staircase, which brought light and fluidity into the space. It was no easy (or cheap) feat, but well worth it. The European White Oak flooring and treads were another large labor of love. The kitchen and downstairs bathrooms were gutted and reconfigured, adding a useable half bath for guests and an extra large laundry room. A dormer was added to the roof, creating a much more usable upstairs bonus room. A Master Suite addition was added to the back of the house, while an existing bedroom transformed into the luxurious master bath. The pergola added usability to the yard, with private access from the master suite. So many loving details went into the hidden and visible parts of this house.
